Lately I’ve been getting slammed with notices that a new domain conference has started or another one is in the making. What in the world is all of this about? A word which comes to mind is money! Can it be that domain conferences are the new trend? A trend which is now becoming an avenue for the domaining world to not only take a vacation but pocket a little cash at the same time. Whatever it is there seems to be one popping up left and right. I’ve got to personally say, these conferences are not cheap. For those of you who have the ability to visit each conference, I must request a secret invite into your bat lairs! One domain conference which has definitely sparkled a twinkle in my eyes is “Domainer Mardi Gras.” This actually looks like a conference that I would be interested in going to. The conference itself is taking place February 19th through February 21, 2009 in New Orleans! Early bird registration through the end of October runs about $695. Feel free to stuff me in you luggage bag and sneak me into the back door of the convention! Although I have never been to a domaining conference I am sure they are a great networking opportunity. Business cards, beads and booze sound like a great combination to me!

In the future, I am sure some of these conferences will fall by the waste side as this industry becomes more and more commercialized. There will be a set few which actually have the capability of appealing to the masses. As with anything a domain conference would be nothing without you!
