Domaining in 2009 State of Emergency
Tuesday, January 13th, 2009It’s the year 2009 and the domaining industry is in a state of emergency. To express this further, there is a great deal of hype about this industry but only a handful of people who are truly profiting from the industry. When I say profit I am speaking about the Forbes list of domainers. Since there is no such thing, I figured I would just coin the term and continue to use it until someone gives me credit for doing so. What I really mean to say is that I am back and there has been a great deal of activity here in the US. We have a new President! One that seems like he actually cares! Although this is not a political blog, it is a blog which reflects my beliefs and I truly believe that our country is finally headed in the right direction. Hopefully power will not corrupt our current president and his wife is able to keep him grounded during the next four years.
Anyhow, I’ve been checking on domain names and haven’t actually found anything promising as of yet. I’ve actually allowed a number of domain names to expire within the last couple months. I am still focusing on forum based domain names, but I have also expanded my portfolio into good dictionary words. I have a good feeling that I will find a great domain name soon. My goal as far as domain names are concerned for 2009 is to sell at least 10 domains for over $1,000. In my opinion this is not as challenging as some may think. With all the talk about an economic downturn, I truly feel that domain gems will always be valued quite highly regardless of the economic state. As always, I will definitely update everyone on my progress! Happy belated New Years, and I am now 28. The young guy steps one year closer to the big 3-0!
