May 1st Goes Down In History

Yes, the triumphant bells of victory are ringing!  I am now a Bido Expert!  You will now be enlightened with my daily puns on the wonderful Bido auction site.  It was only yesterday that I found myself blogging about domains on the Bido auction site, patiently tapping my foot eagerly awaiting the time that I too could post on directly on the site.  Now I can and the world of domaining will never be the same again!  But first, I must type my bio and prepare my profile before the fun and games can begin!

On a side note a domainer by the name of Gary Lach has solicited me with domain SPAM!  Here is the email message that I received from him early this morning:

from    gary lach <garylach@gmail.com>

Hello , I am  offering the above name for sale at $150 , it was a forum at one time with  1,500  members  .

If interested please get back to me .

Regards

Gary Lach.

If there is one thing in the world that I can not stand it is SPAM, let alone domaining SPAM.  He obviously checked my whois information for a domain name that I own, devilforum.net and figured he might be able to email me blindly about the domain he has for sale.  Gary this was not a very professional thing to do, I am actually quite disturbed that the industry has domainers who use solicitation tactics to sell domain names instead of taking the appropriate routes to find a buyer.  Thanks but no thanks!  Now onto the quality of domain you are selling (spamming).  Lets be honest here Gary, the domain name devilforums.com does not have any range when it comes to the domain name devilforum.com, I guess what I am saying here is that you’ve added an “s” to a domain name that would otherwise be quality and completely diminished the value of the domain name.  Indirectly you’ve actually increased the overall value of my devilforum.net because you have registered a similar TLD and it makes your domain registration look a little defeating.  Anyhow, I would laugh if anyone were to buy the domain you are offering for more than $20, the mere fact that you are soliciting the domain name to unexpected candidates and are trying to charge them $150 for such a name proves to me that such a transaction has SCAM written all over it.

Off to Bido I go!

Best Regards,

Jason Thompson

    Regards

    Gary Lach.

PS coyotesClub.com was first reg in 1999 , and both domains would be a good asset.

When I told him his price is ten times what we currently pay and that we are a non-profit that can’t afford those prices, he sent the following reply -

    Hello Heather,

That is quite funny! It sounds like he is sending out emails to what he feels are targeted contacts, unfortunately this is a tactic used in the domaining world that is quite common. As a domainer it is definitely a tactic that I don’t like to use because it sounds like you are trying to sell someone who just purchased a used car with a new one and they haven’t even driven off of the lot yet! I must commend you on the fact that you actually replied to him! When most people send me an unsolicited email I tend to completely ignore it, since this one was about the industry I am in I decided to post it to the blog. If you ever need some advice or insight on someone emailing you in reference to domains in the future feel free to post to this blog!
