Keep in mind this price does not include the 2 year registration fee of $350 for the domain. In total the buyer has paid $1,360 for this name. Not a bad investment in my opinion, since there will be typo traffic as well as the opportunity to brand and develop the domain name with such a powerful keyword.

I refreshed the auction until the last minute and was able to grab a screen shot of the entire auction for you to view. Here is the screenshot, you can click on it to view a clearer version of the image.

At 11:32 am today a user by the name of bestwest bid $1,010 on Hollywood.cm, with only 18 minutes to go in the auction bestwest is now the highest bidder. The second highest bidder is a user by the name of innovationhq who has bid $60, followed by a drove of users who have initial bids of $50.

The thousand dollar bid has taken me out of the ball game as I was going to set my proxy bid at a maximum of $100. If the new owner plays his cards right with hollywood.cm, this will be an ample opportunity to flip the domain name for a good amount of money. I will continue to follow the auction till it end.

Not much movement in the other auctions listed, with the exception of forum.cm going from $60 to $360. Should be interesting to see the outcome of these as well.

I was hoping to report on the final sales numbers for domain.cm, domains.cm, hosting.cm and web.cm but it looks like the domain auctions have ended and I am unable to provide any historical data for those auctions with the exception of what I already posted on Tuesday. The following auctions are still active under my account:

hollywood.cm $50 (Currently has 16 bidders with 22 hours left. Apparently I am winning this auction according to NameJet.)

forum.cm $60 (Currently has 13 bidders with one 1 day and 20 hours left.)

motorcycle.cm $50 (Currently has 9 bidders with 5 days and 20 hours left. I am winning this auction as well.)

domaining.cm $50 (Only has a total of 2 bidders with 11 days and 20 hours left. I am in the lead for this auction as well.)

Now the ironic thing here is the auctions that I am currently leading at this time only have the initial bids of $50. I have not bid anything higher for these domain names, these bids are the starting bids which NameJet automatically places for you. There is some confusion on my behalf in regards to the NameJet auction process for the .cm domain names.

On a number of these domains it shows me as the highest bidder when others have also placed starting bids with the help of the auction platform which are tied to my dollar amount. For instance, hollywood.cm currently has 15 other users who have placed $50 bids. Apparently it looks like my bid was placed first for this domain name on July 15, 2009 at around 12:00AM PT.

Does this mean that I win the domain name or will there be a second auction after this if no one decides to bid higher? If I base the dollar amount and time as being the main combination for winning the domain name then there are four other users who I am currently competing with. If I do win the domain names that I am currently the “highest bidder” on then I will consider it a steal. The words hollywood and motorcycle are both great keywords to me which can be easily branded or flipped!

With 16 bidders ready to strike at any given moment Hollywood.cm’s high bid is currently set at only $50.00! There are only two more days to bid on this domain. Here are a few other domains currently on my auction list:

I am also following the auction for domaining.cm which has brought in a whopping two bidders! The current high bid for the domain is $50 and has 13 days left. It will be interesting to see what these domains go for in the final hours of the auctions.

Well it’s official, I am the proud owner of LOFT.CM, my first CM domain name. All of the other CM domain names are awaiting auction. I registered LOFT.CM because of the real estate market. I am a huge fan of lofts and plan on purchasing one in Downtown, Los Angeles in the next few years. It would be ironic if this domain name actually helps contribute to the purchase of an actual loft. I hope those that participated in the .CM Landrush have had the chance to register some great domains. I am looking forward to hearing about the opportunities which await with the landmark “typo” extension.

Today, NameJet sent an email about how the CM pre-order phase is now closed. They also provided information on the Auction process beginning. For your information I have included the email in its entirety below:

Dear Valued NameJet™ Customer

The Pre-Order process for .CM domains is now closed. We are now ready to start the Auction process.

General Auction Details

As NameJet receives the updates from the Registry, the status of each pre-order will change. As auctions start or single pre-order domains are awarded, the status will also change. You can easily view the status of your domains from the .CM Pre-Order page from within your NameJet account.

• If you were the only bidder with a pre-order for a domain, you will be awarded the domain between Wednesday August 26th and Thursday August 27th. NameJet will send you a $0.00 order confirmation along with additional instructions.

Multiple bidder auctions will be scheduled to start on August 28th, with end dates over the next few weeks. Close dates will be between Monday, August 31st and Monday, September 14th, there will not be any weekend or U.S. Holiday Auction End Dates.
Auction Process
You will receive an email with the start and scheduled end dates and times for each auction that you are a participant. In addition, we will send you an email with a Daily Auction Summary. Once an auction starts, you will be notified if you are outbid, with a quick link to access the auction and increase your proxy amount.

The minimum starting bid for all auctions is $50 USD. Enter your proxy bid, and NameJet will automatically bid on your behalf UP TO your maximum bid. You can come back at any time and increase your proxy bid.

• Payment is by credit card or wire transfer only. We do not accept PayPal.

• Auctions over $5,000 require a bank wire transfer.

On July 31st I wrote an entry about the .CM domain extension delays. Today I received an email from NameJet which explained that the Registry has announced it will begin general registrations on August 26, 2009 at 5:00 PM PST. The Registry has also extended the landrush pre-order period until the same date. NameJet went on to state that it is reopening the pre-order process and August 23, 2009 at 1:00 PM PST is the new deadline.

For those of us that have placed our orders for a .CM domain name, it has been quite a wait. I am glad to see that they are now making more of an effort to communicate with everyone in regards to the status of the .CM domain extension.

There is a buzz flying through the domaining world, which has to do with the .CM domain name being delayed by the “official” Cameroon Government Registry. Hold on to your typos my friend, we are definitely in for a treat on this one. Apparently the first come first served launch, originally to be available as early as tomorrow, March 1, 2009 has now been postponed until further notice. That’s right, until further notice! For those domainers (including myself) who were anticipating the final public open registration stage of the .CM grand finale, we will now have to simply twiddle our thumbs.

The landrush period for this domain extension is now over, but the final public open registration stage has yet to begin and from the looks of it we won’t know when it will be ready until the Cameroon Government Registry provides us with that information. Personally, I have a few domain orders currently in a queue at NameJet and am a bit disappointed in the delays. Especially since there is no option to delete the domains from the pre-order landrush queue. In addition to this the cost for being in the landrush is guided by these rules stated in the NameJet .CM preorder FAQ:

How much does it cost to Pre-Order a .CM?

When you submit your Pre-Order directly through NameJet there is no charge! If the domain that you pre-ordered goes to auction and you win that auction, you will pay the winning bid amount to NameJet. The Landrush 2-year registration fee will be charged by the sponsoring registrar plus any additional fees charged by your domain name provider.

What fees will I be charged if I am the winning bidder?

You will only pay NameJet for the final winning bid amount; no additional fees are associated with your bid(s). Your Landrush 2-yr registration fee will be charged by your domain name provider. Please contact your domain name provider for further details.

Delays combined with the hefty registration fees is enough to make you think twice about being part of the .CM landrush pre-registration or open registration period. Hopefully this gets worked out soon as anymore delays could be catastrophic for the new extension.
